Mata Pupua (Mask) manta ray Dimensions: 47 cm x 22Mata Pupua was carved in oceanic rosewood (mio) which is the local wood from the island of Nuku Hiva. It is adorned with the Marquesan ancestral motifs for protection. Tiki in the Marquesan culture represents etua (god) deified ancestors whose supernatural powers sustain and protect the community.
