As Explore hints in the previous grouping, we do need a few non-modal spells in the deck, and we want those to be as synergistic as possible

Early in the game, both these features of adding an extra card to the inkwell and getting to add a card to the hand are crucial

Its time again for another set, and Core Set 2021 is a good one

Such spells like Sensei's Divining Top, Esper Sentinel, and everyones favorite Rhystic Study will give you enough card advantage to keep your control deck engine going

But spending three mana at sorcery speed to find your 1-drop is usually not what Modern decks want to do unless things have gone badly and the deck is coping creatively
